Now despite me not liking the new PV (as much as everyone else xD), I was still compelled to make icons because the song itself is still made of win and because I got my muse back! This is the first time I've posted a batch of icons in almost a year so please excuse me if they came out crappy. D:

Photoshop 7 Tutorial; Selective Color

First of all, I apologize for the lengthiness of this tutorial. I haven't made a tutorial (or a post for that matter) since October because my icon creativity went down the drain there for awhile. x.X;; This icon turned out surprisingly nice though so I was inspired to do a tutorial. :D You don't have to follow it word for word. You may find that your icon is good enough for you not even halfway through the darn thing. It's just a guide. ;)

Before	After

001 Duplicate base. Set to screen at %100 opacity. Duplicate base layer again and set to soft light at %50 opacity. Flattern layers.
002 Create a new layer. Fill with #010120 and set to exclusion at %100 opacity.
003 Create a new layer. Fill with #0B6302 and set to soft light at %100 opacity.
004 Create a new layer. Fill with #F2D2EF and set to soft light at %100 opacity.
005 Create a new layer. Fill with #D2EEF3 and set to soft light at %100 opacity.
006 Duplicate base layer, drag to top and set to soft light at %100 opacity.
007 Go to Layer >>> New Layer Adjustment >>> Selective Color. Use the following settings:

Red

Cyan -100%
Magenta +100%
Yellow +91%
Black +79%

Yellow

Cyan -38%
Magenta +42%
Yellow +89%
Black 0%

Cyans

Cyan +54%
Magenta +69%
Yellow +48%
Black +0%

Blue

Cyan -49%
Magenta +98%
Yellow +57%

008 Add a new layer, place this texture {made by: cdg} there and drag the layer underneath the selective color layer. Set to linear burn at 100% opacity and erase texture on and/or around face if needed.
009 Add a new layer, place this texture {made by: _iconographer} there and set to softlight at %100 opacity.
010 Add a new layer, place this texture {made by: dearest} there and set to multiply at %30 opacity.
011 Add this texture {made by: heygingersnap} in a new layer and set to screen at 100% opacity.
012 If needed, flatten the image and go to Image >>> Adjustments >>> Hue/Saturation and increase the hue just a little bit to bring out the colors more.

Tutorial 004 - Made In PS CS2

Before	After

001. Start with your base and go to Image >>> Adjustments >>> Hue/Saturation. Increase Saturation to +50.
002. Go to Image >>> Adjustments >>> Brightness/Contrast. Decrease the Brightness to -33 and increase the Contrast to +14.
003. Sharpen the base and duplicate it. Taking the Blur Tool and with it set to a Strength of 50%, carefully go over the skin and ONLY the skin. Avoid the eyes and mouth.
004. Go to Filter >>> Blur >>> Gaussian Blur and set it to 2.00. Next, set that layer to Screen.
005. Create a new layer. Fill with #05023c and set to Exclusion @ 100%.
006. Create a new layer. Fill with #133c02 and set to Soft Light @ 100%.
007. Create a new layer. Fill with #086474 and set to Soft Light @ 100%.
008. Duplicate the original base and drag to top, setting it to Soft Light @ 100%.
009. Place this texture [Made By: zemie] as a new layer and set to Screen. Next, go to Layer >>> New Adjustment Layer >>> Brightness/Contrast. Click the Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask to connect it with the light texture layer. Decrease the Brightness to -10 and increase the Contrast to +13.
010. Using one of these brushes [Made by missymw88icons, I placed it as a new layer and set it to Screen.
011. Using the Rounded Rectangle Tool, I created a small box using the color #2d7629 and set it to Linear Light @ 100%.
012. A tiny text brush was then added as well as the words "Take Back" in the font Violation, size 12.
013. Lastly, I added a 1px white border and viola, it's finished. :)

Before	After

001. Duplicate the base two times. Set the first one to Screen at 50% and the second one to Soft Light @ 100%.
002. Create a new layer and fill with #070437. Set it to Difference @ 100%.
003. Create a new layer and fill with #b30435. Set it to Soft Light @ 100%.
004. Create a new layer and fill with #043715. Set it to Soft Light @ 100%.
005. Since I found that his face was a little too dark, I created a new layer and filled with #f9ed91, set it to Soft Light and erased everything except for his face and neck.
006. I then wanted to bring out his eyes [even though they already stand out pretty much on their own ;)] so I used the color #834b09 and colored over his eyes before setting it to Saturation @ 100%.
007. I also wanted to bring out his lips a little more so I used the color #f44364 and colored over his lips. Then, I set it to Soft Light @ 100%.
008. Two more new color layers were added: I filled one with #08053e and set it to Exclusion @ 100% and the other was filled with #FFFFFF and set to Soft Light @ 100%.
009. Next, this brush was added at the bottom, using the color #FFFFFF.
010. I added tiny text using Arial Black at size 1.5, Anti-Aliasing set to Crisp, Tracking set to 800 and the Baseline Shift set to 3pt. "PYT" was then added in the font Barbara Hand with the size set to 18pt and the Anti-Aliasing at Sharp.
011. A 2px border was added last using the color #FFFFFF.

001. Duplicate base, set to Screen.
002. Create new layer and fill with #070936. Set to Exclusion at 100%.
003. Create new layer and fill with #144303. Set to Soft Light at 100%.
004. Create new layer and fill with #ede4a5. Set to Soft Light at 100%.
005. Create new layer and fill with #d1053a. Set to Soft Light at 100%.
006. Now duplicate the original base and bring to top, setting it to Soft Light at 100%.
007. Next, add a 2px white border.
008. Lastly, a 1px border was added in the color #7c7a7a on top of the white border.

Tutorial 001 - PS CS2

Before	After

001. Firstly, go to Adjustments >>> Auto Contrast.
002. Next, I sharpened it by selecting Filter >>> Sharpen >>> Sharpen
003. After that, I decided to brighten the base by using Image >>> Adjustments >>> Brightness/Contrast. Set the settings to -15/+15.
004. I then duplicated the base, setting it to Softlight @ 20% and duplicated it once more, setting that to Screen @ 30%.
005. Add a new layer, fill with #040452 and set to Exclusion @ 100%.
006. Add a new layer, fill with #84def1 and set to Color Burn @ 100%.
007. Add a new layer, fill with #da0f3a and set to Soft Light @ 60%.
008. Place this texture [made by me] as a new layer and set to Multiply @ 100%. I used the Dodge Tool to lighten the texture around their face and hair.
009. Place this texture [made by me] as a new layer and set to Soft Light @ 100%. Once again, the Dodge Tool was used in the same manner as in Step 008.
010. Add a new layer, fill with #f3d8a3 and set to Darken @ 100%.
011. Place this texture [made by fraoch_icons] and set to Screen @ 50%. Go to Edit >>> Transform and Rotate 90 CW.
012. Using the font AvantGarde Bk BT with a font size of 14 and set to Sharp, I wrote "ALY&AJ" in the upper right-hand corner.
013. Lastly, add this brush [made by me], keeping the opacity the same.

---> These were fun to make. :D Set 007 is just Set 006 with a different layer of color added to it and an extra texture laid on top. I sort of have an addiction with the blue exclusion layer, if you haven't noticed in my other posts. ;) Expect a lot more textures in the upcoming days. I already have two other ones made but i'm not going to post them yet in hopes of saving your friends list. xD

I have also added links at the bottom [will add more soon] to the rules, the credits for other brushes/textures I might use and the memories, so you can check for past resources. Just thought that it would be helpful and efficient. :D <---
